Welcome to Day 2 of my Blog Tour!

Welcome to Day 2 of my Blog Tour!

Did everyone find the gold mining related item in my previous blog? I hope so, because you’ll want to keep your score card current to win your Whiskey Creek package!* If you’re new, visit www.brendanovak.com to read a set of simple directions, your own score card and my itinerary so that you can join the fun and win, too. Everyone wins who follows the fun!

In my new contemporary series, readers are introduced to a tightknit clique that grew up together in the small town of Whiskey Creek, a place founded in the gold rush. Although Whiskey Creek is a fictional setting, it’s modeled after many of the real gold country towns near where I live. Western boardwalks still connect the buildings in the center of town. There are two Victorians that have been turned into Bed & Breakfasts. There’s a diner called Just Like Mom’s that serves good old comfort food (you can order the most delicious cookies from Just Like Mom’s on my website), an old-fashioned ice cream parlor that caters to tourists, a saloon-style bar where the locals hang out and an old-fashioned hardware store which sells gold-panning equipment. In ways, it feels like the town that time forgot—but it’s the type of place where I would dearly love to live.

Gail DeMarco is the heroine of WHEN LIGHTNING STRIKES, a recent finalist in the National Reader’s Choice Award and the Bookseller’s Best Award. She was eager to leave her small town roots for the big city, where she planned to make a name for herself. So she started her PR firm in Los Angeles and accumulated a roster of A-list clients, including the biggest box office hit of all—sexy and unpredictable Simon O'Neal. But Simon, who's just been through a turbulent divorce, is so busy self-destructing he won't listen to anything she says. She drops him from her list—and he retaliates by taking the rest of her clients with him. Desperate to save her company, Gail has to humble herself by making a deal with Simon. The one thing he wants is custody of his son, but that's going to require a whole new image. He needs to marry some squeaky-clean girl who'll drag him off to some small, obscure place like Whiskey Creek…and guess who gets the job!

If you’d like to learn more about Gail and how she works out her differences with Simon, this book is currently on sale for only $1.99 in digital.  http://amzn.to/1azMxmX

by Brenda Novak

Sometimes home is the refuge you need—and sometimes it isn't....

Adelaide Davies, who's been living in Sacramento, returns to Whiskey Creek, the place she once called home. She's there to take care of her aging grandmother and to help with Gran's restaurant, Just Like Mom's. But Adelaide isn't happy to be back. There are too many people here she'd rather avoid, people who were involved in that terrible June night fifteen years ago.

Ever since the graduation party that changed her life, she's wanted to go to the police and make sure the boys responsible—men now—are punished. But she can't, not without revealing an even darker secret. So it's better to pretend….

Noah Rackham, popular, attractive, successful, is shocked when Adelaide won't have anything to do with him. He has no idea that his very presence reminds her of something she'd rather forget. He only knows that he's finally met a woman he could love.

  1. I love this series and just finished Home to Whiskey Creek. This story was more intense than the others and I was emotionally wrought the whole time. It's a great installment in the series and I hope an end is NOT in sight. Thanks for really good romances entrenched in relevant, contemporary issues and challenges.

    1. Thanks a million, Jonetta! So glad you enjoyed it. I'm planning on a 12-book series, so there will definitely be more. TAKE ME HOME FOR CHRISTMAS, out October 29th, will be Ted and Sophia's book. COME HOME TO ME, out next April, will be Presley and Aaron's story. I'm just about finished with that one--have about 100 more pages to go. Wish me luck!

    2. Here's wishing you that luck! Lucky us and I can't wait to read Ted and Sophia's story...I know you're going to make me cry.

      12 books??? I'm in heaven.

  2. Hi Brenda,
I have yet to start this series but boy oh boy am I champing at the bit to do so. I love the excerpts here and on your website--I adore small towns (I grew up in a very big city but made sure my kids had the hometown experience) and I love books set in them. Just as Jonetta said above--thanks for ALL your wonderful stories.

That might be the perfect way to get started, especially because WHEN LIGHTNING STRIKES (Book #1) is currently only $1.99--so you'll have a very inexpensive follow-up!

  5. What are you missing, Laura? You just jot down whatever gold mining item is in the blog. Yesterday it was the mine itself, for instance. Then you jot down the character that was featured and follow me to the next stop. That's it!

  9. So...I read this series out of order. I started with Callie, and then Noah, and then went back to the beginning. I LOVED all of them, even reading them out of order, but WOW!!! I fell in love with the Whiskey Creek gang even more after I read all of them! It is amazing how unique each individual story is, and even more amazing how they all connect! Awesome job!

  10. What a nice comment, Heather. THANK YOU! That really makes me feel good. I'm thrilled that you're enjoying them. :-)

  11. Hi, Brenda! You don't see many Gails in romance, and I, for one, and thrilled with your name choice. For no personal reason at all. :)
