Playlist for Moonlight Match

Hi, Readers! This week marks the release of my 20th book, and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Moonlight Match is part of the Resort to Romance series, a sweet romance series that takes place during MatchMaking Week at fictional Joy Island in the Bahamas!

This book was so much fun to write because who doesn’t love a vacation, beach-set romance? As I was writing it, I heard reggae music in my head – congo drums, guitars, guiros, and zylophones. It just made me happy. You know what I also listened to? My playlist for the book!

Along with a Pinterest board, every book I write gets its own playlist. Country, pop, dance, jazz, and even some oldies – my music taste is very eclectic! – make it onto the playlist, which I listen to as I’m editing or brainstorming or just thinking my way out of a stuck place. Here are a few of the songs from the playlist for Moonlight Match.

Lady Antebellum, Compass
I love this song. I like the beat, I like the hook. Heck, I like just about everything about it, but my favorite part is the “follow your heart” part. Because this song is all about listening to that still, small voice we all have that tells us when something (like love) is here.

Secondhand Serenade, Fall For You
Ethan and Aster have met before they’re matched in the Bahamas. They even like each other, a little bit, but neither is willing to admit just how much. This song felt like it suite both of them.

Amanda Seyfried, I Have a Dream
Yes, this is a song from the movie Mamma Mia, I don’t care. I love that movie and I love this song. I consider this Aster’s theme for the book. She’s been dreaming of falling in love for most of her life, but she’s never really let herself go. Some of that goes back to her upbringing and her sister, but watching her finally let go was so much fun. And that’s what this song reminds me of.

Taylor Swift, I Knew You Were Trouble
This is Ethan’s theme for the book. He knows, probably before Aster, that this thing between them is powerful. He felt it the first time they met and it made him run a little scared. You see, Ethan likes his life to be predictable and Aster is anything but predictable. She even makes him act impulsively a few times, and that is scary…scary and exciting!

And even more songs from the playlist (I told you it’s a bit eclectic!):
Smile by Nat King Cole
Take a Chance on Me by ABBA
Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars
Dancin’ Away with My Heart by Lady Antebellum

Moonlight Match

Aster Harrington believes in love but love doesn’t seem to believe in her. She’s hoping Goldie and Ginny, the matchmakers who’ve matched on two generations of Harringtons, can work a little love magic for her…

Some call Ethan Talbot rigid, but he prefers to think of himself as prepared. Unfortunately, when he’s matched with Aster Harrington at Joy Island’s Matchmaking Week, all those carefully prepared plans go out the window. He can get back to finding a suitable wife once he’s home in New York. After all, how much damage can one week in the Bahamas do to his plans?
