Thank you so much for having me over today!
I’m so excited to talk a little bit about why I adore the
opposites attract trope!

Lennon is my rock star with a heart of gold who throws the
party at his lake house.
Jade is my mathlete who wants to get wild for just ONE night
before she goes off to college.
They couldn’t be more different. He is destined for the
stage and on the road to fame. She is a mathlete with a secret passion who is
having a hard time figuring out which path she wants to choose. But when they
come together? It’s electric.
There is something so wonderful about writing two characters
who are so distinctively different. I think it allows for the characters to see
beneath the surface with each other, and that is definitely the case when it
comes to Jade and Lennon.
There is also so much fun snarky banter when it comes to
opposites, and I couldn’t get enough of Jade’s approach to Lennon’s B.S. She
always calls him on it, and pushes him to be better to himself, and Lennon does
the same for Jade. It made for plenty of laugh out loud moments while writing,
along with some incredibly hot tension.
Opposites have such great angst, and that is so the case for Lennon and Jade. The
more the night goes on, the more the heat revs up between them, and I believe
it sets the pace for the novel super well. There is a ticking clock for Lennon
to get back to his party and ready for his career make-or-break show, but he
doesn’t want to waste a second away from Jade. She’s his opposite, and yet he
can’t resist her!
It’s a bitter sweet end to the Grad Night series because I
love all of these characters so much and didn’t want the party to ever stop!
But, ending the series with Jade and Lennon was always the plan, and I believe
they put on one hell of a show!
Love Beyond Opposites
Excerpt:
“It’s in your
music.”
“That’s just
performance. Playing to the crowd. More than half my audience is of the female
persuasion. I have to write love songs to keep them wanting more.”
“No.” She
shook her head. “Not what you play on stage.” I sat up straighter in the seat.
“I’m talking about the times you think
no one is
listening.
Those moments when your door is cracked, and you close your eyes with nothing
but you and your black acoustic. The melodies are usually hauntingly beautiful,
and the few words that slip past your lips are...”
An awareness
slid over my senses, like tiny shocks of electricity.
“Poetic,” she
finally said.
The blood in
my veins pulsed hard and hot, and a tremor raced down my spine. No one had ever
nailed me straight to the core before—no one had ever seen me as clearly
as she just illustrated—and it scared the hell out of me.
