Happy Fall everyone! I’m so happy to be here to celebrate my newest release, Lips Close To Mine. For those of you in the US, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I love fall. As much as I love the warm summers in Southern California, I do enjoy the cooler temperatures and getting to dress in sweaters and my Ugg boots, drinking warm beverages, and eating pretty much anything with pumpkin in it.
One of my very favorite memories of fall, though, is from almost seven years ago when my younger son and I walked into a pet store and fell in love with a puppy. I’m allergic to dogs, but this little guy was said to be hypoallergenic, so we huddled with him in a small room and played. Well, it only took about two seconds to know that the white, mini Labradoodle was not only the cutest puppy on the planet, but playful and friendly and lovable. It took only a few more seconds of petting and holding and crossing fingers to discover that I was a-ok with the tiny ball of fur and there was no way we were going home without him.
(Puppy Harry playing in the grass with a fall leaf.)
Falling in love hadn’t been on the shopping list that day, but sometimes the very best things are those that aren’t planned. (That’s pretty much what happens to Harper and Levi in Lips Close To Mine.) :)
I had never had an inside dog before so it was big learning curve, but so fun and wonderful and yes, a little tiring at the beginning. We named him Harry, after one of my favorite fictional characters, Harry Dresden. He’s the best pal, always sitting under my chair at my feet when I write, cuddling with me on the couch when I watch TV, and greeting me at the front door when I get home from the day job. I never really understood what people meant when they said their dog was part of the family. Until now. Now I tell stories about him just like I do my sons. And he’s always, always there, with a tail wag, a kiss, a playful bark. Our little Harry makes every day a little brighter and I’m so thankful he came into our lives!
I hope this holiday season has you thankful for many things!
LIPS CLOSE TO MINE
LIPS CLOSE TO MINE
I wasn't supposed to see Levi Pierce ever again. A few months ago, he charmed the pants off me and we spent one incredible night together.
End of story.
Only it wasn't. Pretty soon everywhere I turn, I see him. Our best friends are dating. My mother mistakenly—and happily—thinks he's my plus-one to my cousin's wedding. And he's the guy I have to work with on the most important job opportunity of my life.
Here's my problem: I like Levi. I like his killer smile and his dreamboat eyes and definitely the way he makes me feel in bed. But I've sworn off relationships. So when the sexual tension reaches epic proportions and we fall back into bed together, I tell myself it's temporary. When I start to feel more, I tell myself it's over.
Only Levi isn't a forget-it kind of guy. When his lips are close to mine and he swears he's always wanted me, my defenses disappear. But some things in life just aren't meant to be.
Or are they?
