Excerpt:
“Lunch wouldn’t be complete without
dessert.”
A smile lit her face. “Depends on what
you have.”
“Close your eyes. It’s a surprise.”
She fingered her ponytail, and Nick had
to fight hard not to think about the silky feel of her blonde strands. “I don’t
like surprises.”
“Humor me.” He lowered his voice. “I’ll
make it worth your while.”
With a longing glance at the box, she
lowered her eyelids. He opened the lid, removed a large cream puff, and leaned
closer. “Open your mouth.”
After the slightest hesitation she
complied. The sight of her lips clamping down on the pastry made all the blood
rush to his groin.
“Mmm.” She bit off a chunk and chewed.
With her eyes closed, she was more
tempting than any dessert. Nick couldn’t help it. He leaned forward and brushed
her lips with his. She sucked in a quick breath but didn’t pull back. It didn’t
take more than the slightest pressure against her lips before they parted. He swept
his tongue inside, the taste of the cream mixed with Ashley both intoxicating
and arousing.
He’d intended it to be a gentle kiss,
but when their tongues touched something snapped in him—or maybe it snapped in
both of them.

Congrats on the new release! I live in Italy and one of the most romantic dates we had was a trip to Villa Manin. It has a beautiful park and I can't wait to go back there.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a romantic place to visit. One day I plan to get back to Italy and visit more of the cities of my family. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteHappy book birthday, Maria. Tbh I'm an oblivious person IRL that I never thought whether I've had any special romantic dates or not. Hopeless, I know. I'm not big on grand gesture, just to be able to spend some time alone with that special someone - wherever, really - is romantic enough for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dee. I agree, having that special someone is what counts...wherever you are. A romantic moment is what you make it, wherever you are. It's about the words and feelings. Thanks for commenting.
DeleteMy most romantic date was on a sail boat. We spent the day sailing around the lake and had a picnic type lunch on the boat. I loved the quiet seclusion.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a perfect date!
DeleteI would say it was a special restaurant that I had wanted to go to.
ReplyDeleteSounds lovely, Maureen. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteI enjoy trying new places too! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteCongratulations on your new release, Maria. I won't be able to answer the question since, well, I don't date. I'm an aromantic asexual woman. But since I'm a homebody if I ever go with platonic relationship, stay in home will be good enough for me.
