My Military Cowboy Addiction

Giveaway of $10 Amazon Gift Card!

Hello, my name is Donna Michaels, and I’m addicted to writing military cowboys. It’s a gift and a curse at the same time. But I’m not looking for a cure. While I do write other hot alpha heroes, and occasionally cowboy or military heroes separately, I can’t stop myself from going back to penning a cowboy SEAL, or cowboy National Guardsman, or a cowboy Marine. You get the picture.

My passion for writing a military hero must stem from my husband, who is a fulltime National Guardsman. He’s never been on a horse or a ranch, plus we live in northeastern PA, so that doesn’t explain my cowboy obsession...I mean, passion, but it’s strong.

In my new release with Entangled Publications, IN A RANGER’S ARMS, my hero is a former Army Ranger (yeah, big shock) who owns a ranch in Texas, along with his brother and two other rangers, to help returning veterans transition into society. This is the first book in The Men of At-Ease Ranch series, and I am having a blast torturing…did I say torturing? I meant, writing…yeah, writing their stories.

Even though the hero in book 1 is dealing with a serious issue, the story, overall, is light with humor and heat. Thank you for helping me celebrate the release of In A Ranger’s Arms! I’m excited to share it with everyone!

IN A RANGER’S ARMS

No amount of training could’ve prepared him for her.

Former Army Ranger Stone Mitchum doesn’t have time for sex. Since starting a company with his brother and two buddies, he’s had more important things on his mind. Like transitioning veterans back into society. But when his curvy new tenant falls into his arms—literally—his libido snaps to attention.

Jovy Larson has four weeks to prove she’s worthy of taking over the family business. Her challenge? Sell gluten-free, vegan food—in the middle of cattle country, Texas. It’s a tough task, but not half as tough as fighting her attraction to her sexy, surly landlord.

Before she knows it, Jovy’s tangling sheets with the hot cowboy, stalked by a jealous cow, and strategizing ways to help Stone’s ranch. But by the time her lease runs out and the test is over, she’s faced with a new challenge…competing against Stone’s sense of duty to win his heart.

Excerpt:
“You have a beautiful place, Stone. And these floors…” She bent down to run her hand over the tired wood. “Are they original?”

“Yes,” he replied, coming to join her in front of the desk. “They just need some TLC like the ones in the other room. No reason to get rid of them. We need to sand and refinish—and we will—but there are other things more important right now.” Like using the money to feed his men and keep a roof over their heads. Cosmetic renovations were low on the priority list.

She slowly rose to her feet and stared at him. Hard. His stomach clenched. What the hell did he do now? “What’s wrong?”

“You.” She poked his chest with her finger. “I’m beginning to realize that’s the norm for you.”

He frowned. “What is?”

“Looking beyond the surface and finding the good in things. People. Cows.”

A smile tugged his lips.

“You are something else, Stone Mitchum. You don’t discard. You support. Encourage. Cultivate self-worth.” She drew in a breath. “And you want to know the best part? You don’t even realize it. It’s second nature to you. God…do you know how rare that is in business?”

What was rare was the way the woman made him feel. Important. Treasured. Wanted. Even if she only meant how he handled his business. He couldn’t drag his gaze away. Her face was alive with conviction and passion, and the mixture was a heady cocktail he couldn’t resist. Stone needed—no, wanted to bask in the warmth of her appraisal, even though he knew it was dangerous. So damn dangerous. But he was drawn in. Mesmerized. It was too much and not enough. He needed to touch her. To feel the conviction. Taste the passion.

Screw it. To hell with his reservations and holding back. Stone cupped her head, marveling at the softness of the confined dark-chocolate-colored hair. Her eyes widened, and he held her heated gaze while he slowly lowered his mouth, giving her the opportunity to do what he could not. Pull away.

God, he hoped she didn’t.
