Knocked Out By Love

With: Abby Niles

Congratulations to "Mood Reader", the winner in Abby's giveaway. Thank you to all who participated!

I’m not a natural born flirt. I’m awkward, easily flustered and sexy retorts come to me about ten hours too late when I’m lying in bed thinking about what a colossal idiot I’d made of myself. So imagine how uncomfortable it was for me to wade back into the dating pool after almost a decade of marriage a few years ago. To say the least, it didn’t go well. In fact, it went very, very bad (until I met the one a couple of years ago).

My heroine is just starting the newly-single journey herself after an eight-year marriage. Trying to get back into the swing of things can be a little daunting.

She wanted to get comfortable with flirting again. She’d blown it bad last night. Really bad, if she was going to have to apologize to Delaney. Brody had already helped her feel more desirable with a few simple words. Maybe he could help with some of the rest. She bit her bottom lip.

“I know that gnawing the lip thing,” Brody said. “What the hell are you thinking?”

Should she even dare? She eyed him. It was a huge favor to ask. “I think I could use a little coaching.”

“On what?”

“Dating, of course.”

If his head had jerked back any farther, it would’ve fallen off. “You don’t need—”

“Think about,” she interrupted. Now that she’d put it out there, she was really warming to the idea. What better way to ease back into singlehood after eight long years than with someone she had always been comfortable around. “Last night, I drank so much because I was trying to loosen myself up. I kept getting tongue-tied when a guy would come up to me. I won’t have to drink if I practice a little. Do you know I haven’t danced with a guy since…damn. My wedding.”

“Are you serious?”

“Dead serious. You’re safe. Didn’t you say I needed to be safe? What better person to help me get out of the rusty and into the polished than a guy that sees me at his best friend’s ex-wife.”

She smiled. This really could work.

“Right. That’s exactly how I see you, and I’m not the person to do this, Scarlett.”

“Because of Ryan.”

A lengthy pause followed before he said, “Yeah, because of Ryan.”

KNOCKED OUT BY LOVE

Brody Minton has loved Scarlett Harris for years. But shes his best friends wife, so hes worked hard to keep his distance. Hearing the marriage is over shouldnt change anything. Only an ass would make a move on a friends ex… Except Scarlett wants help getting back in the dating game, and Brodys torn. If he helps her out, he can keep an eye on her and guard her vulnerable heart. But having the woman hes longed for for years in armsreach is hell on a mans restraint, no matter how iron strong his will.

But loving Scarlett is only half the fight.

All Scarlett Harris wants is to get away for a while and rethink her life after filing for divorce from her lying, cheating bastard of a husband. The gorgeous Bahamas sounds like the perfect escape, except shes booked in very resort Brody “The Iron” Minton is staying at for his sisters wedding. Now her exs best friend is dogging her every move, and is a witness to her first pathetic attempts at flirting in years. If Brody isnt going to leave her alone, then shell just recruit him to help get her reacquainted with her single self.

  1. My flirting ability is sadly non existing. At. All. LOL I'm truly hopeless in flirting or romance matters in real life. I prefer the book! ;-)
This book sounds really promising, the characters knew each other a long time and one with hidden torch... Excited to read this!

  6. Before marriage (35 years ago), I couldn't flirt to save my life. Today, happily married, I am able to flirt with (married) men and even (married) women, perhaps because we are all "safe". If I were single, I might not be able to do it....

  15. I'm soooo glad that I am not alone on the inability to flirt thing!! For those natural flirters out there, I bow to you. I wish I could flirt. I think it comes in handy in social gatherings. It seems to make conversation easier. My friend is a natural flirter. I watch her in awe, lol.
