Guard My Body, Take My Heart

I love me some bodyguard stories. There is something so freaking hot about a hero willing to lay down life and limb to keep the heroine safe. It forces both characters into close proximity and puts both their safety and their hearts on the line when they inevitably can’t keep their hands off each other. Put all that together, and you have a book that I’m going to have a hell of a time putting down.

To celebrate my most recent book release, PROTECTING FATE—which as I’m sure you’ve guessed, features one hotter than sin bodyguard hero and one troublemaker heroine—I’ve put together my short list of my favorite bodyguard books/series!

- Topping out my list is the original three Kushiel’s Legacy books by Jacqueline Carey. The heroine has a nasty tendency to embroil herself in all sorts of political trouble and shenanigans, and the hero is the man who swore that he’d protect her to his dying breath. Through the three books, there are lots of ups and downs and they both walk through hell and back, but he is always there to step in and do the impossible in his effort to keep her safe. That makes these are some of my favorite books of all time.

- Next on my list is Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series. The heroine ends up as nearly badass as the hero, but at the start of the series it’s constantly him yanking her out of the fire and keeping her alive. The fact that he’s surly while he’s doing it just adds a little something extra to the whole thing. I adore surly heroes. It’s a sickness.

- Of course, no list of mine would be completely without Suzanne Brockmann books on it. Her Troubleshooter series is a longtime favorite, and several of those books have men who will go to the very ends of the earth to keep their heroine’s safe. The fact that they’re all former military? Bonus!

I could keep going! Can you tell I really adore these types of books? But I want to hear from you. What are some of your favorite bodyguard/protector books?

Her body was his to protect. And to own…

Fixer Sara Reaver is furious when she discovers that she’s not only been exiled to the country for her own safety, but she’s been assigned a bodyguard. Zebadiah
“Z” Loreto may be her brother’s best friend, but he’s also one big, bad, and very sexy wolf of a man…and Sara’s determined to make him come out and play.

And oh, Z wants to play. But Sara Reaver is definitely off-limits and Z promised himself never to unleash his dark desires ever again. Still, he can see that she craves the harsh and sensual hand of control.

It will mean crossing professional and personal boundaries. Breaking their own rules. And they’ll both discover just what happens—for good or bad—when they relinquish complete control…
