Congratulations to "Amy P.", the winner in Nancy's giveaway. Thank you to all who participated!
I love a good bumper sticker as much as the next gal, but don’t dare go slapping one on the back of my car! My late husband was a goat farmer and he had a bumper sticker on the back of his GMC that said, “A Boer doe is not a fine wine.” I’m pretty darn certain there weren’t many folks who got as big a kick out of that bumper sticker as he did, if they got the joke at all!
What is it with guys and those kind of sayings about their professions?
I wrote the following snippet in Barbecue and Bad News after seeing a firefighter’s bumper sticker on the back of a bright red Ford F250. Sheriff Scott Calvin is talking with Savannah Dey. There’s a lot of tickle and tension between these two even though they’d swear they’d prefer to stay forty feet apart.
“You googled me?” Savannah’s eyes were full of distrust.
He should have kept his mouth shut. “Sorry. Occupational hazard. I’m curious.”
“Or just nosy.”
“A plus for a detective.”
She arched a brow. “But you’re a sheriff.”
“Sheriffs do it all.” Only it didn’t come out quite as provocative as he’d planned. Sounded more like a bad bumper sticker. Firefighters do it in the heat, but sheriffs do it all.
What fun “bumper sticker” sayings have you read or heard about men and their hobbies or careers? Do you have bumper stickers on your vehicle? If so, what do they say?
Nancy will be giving away an ebook copy of Barbecue and Bad News to one lucky person leaving a comment or email entry.
