When I started writing for Brazen, I realized I had a problem. Brazen romances are about the shift and change in a relationship as reflected in sex play and because of the sex. Sure, there’s more to a Brazen than just the hubba hubba, but I’ve been married for over 30 years. What I’ve got in the bedroom is more like “huh.” So I decided it was time to try something new.

My husband is all for anything that gets him laid, so he was up for whatever I suggested. And yes, I do mean literally. First thing we tried was mild bondage play. I tied him to the bed and started to torture him just like all those feisty heroines I’ve read about (and written!). Then I remembered an appointment that I’d forgotten and zipped out of the house.

When I returned, he suggested I should see if I like spanking. I wisely declined.
The next thing I tried was a couple’s yoga DVD that a friend of mine loaned me. She said she and her husband love it and it had made a hot difference for them. Since it had been a while since our bondage mistake, my husband was happy to try. What my friend hadn’t told me was that it was about feeling the energy between husband and wife without touching. There’s an energy flow between people and the class was meant to increase the chi between husband and wife.  We made it through about half the class when my husband said, “F*** this, we’re doing it American Style now.”  Turns out I was okay with that. So that experiment worked.

The most recent attempt turned into the pool table scene in Two Week Seduction. If you read the reviews, everyone loves this scene. It involves the hero talking dirty as a way to win the game. So I thought my husband and I should try dirty talk.

The problem is that my husband is a finance guy and computer programmer. Titillating dialogue is not in his wheelhouse. He said, “I want to do you right now.” Then after some thought, he tried, “I mean, I really want to do you. Like now. Like, you know, do you.” And when I started laughing, he tried again. “I’m a guy. And I want to do you. Cause I’m a hot hero like guy.”

Fortunately, John in Two Week Seduction had me helping him with his sex talk. So give the book a shot. And then tell me if you think I made John witty enough. And hard enough. And hot enough!

Jade Lee / Kathy Lyons /

She’s going to break all of his rules…

Tech Sergeant John O’Donnell was never fond of his hometown. Too many reminders of poverty, his rocky family life, and the girl he was never allowed to have. Now he has exactly two weeks to sort out his mother's finances before he heads back overseas. Two weeks that he's determined to spend as far from his best friend’s little sister as possible.

Alea Heling has a naughty streak a mile wide. Sweet and simple? Boring. She’s been craving a bad boy like John since their wild days together in high school, and this time, she’s not taking no for an answer. But with every panty-meltingly hot encounter, Alea forgets one hard, cold reality—this soldier won't let a fortnight turn into forever...and forever might be exactly what they both need.
