I Want It

With: Nina Crespo

Years ago, someone I met at a seminar asked me if I liked where I was living. I didn't, but not wanting to give the wrong impression (whining malcontent=avoid for the rest of the day at all costs), I said it was fine. I went on to list the positives, but she saw the crack in my armor. She said, "It sounds to me like you're trying to convince yourself. You're settling." Her comment stayed with me for the rest of the day, along with the realization that she was right.

My heroine Jasmine in Take Me If You Dare settled for a guy who looked great on the outside, but he broke her trust and her heart. Because she no longer trusted her instincts, she almost missed out on finding Ethan. Her story reminds us of the importance of not settling for less or letting the past rule our lives. We have to move past disappointments, learn to trust ourselves again, and reach out for the good stuff that's just up ahead.

Do I still find myself in places or circumstances that I don't like? Sure I do, but I'm becoming more honest about what's not working (sometimes it takes awhile) so I can make a conscious effort to move toward what's important to me.

Deciding to release my debut novella to the world was my latest stretch into the unknown. I've faced highs and lows, favorable and not so favorable circumstances, but I'm having a blast as I learn more about my craft, connect with other authors, and meet new fans. What I love about writing romance is that the hero and heroine never settle for less…and maybe neither should we.

Take Me If You Dare

It’s been a year since Jasmine Stewart dumped her cheating ex, so when her best friend dares her to have a one-night stand during a business trip to Miami, Jasmine is all in. But just as she hits her cheesy-come-ons limit, a wickedly hot former soldier comes to her rescue.

Security specialist Ethan Worth’s instincts tell him the gorgeous woman at the bar is trouble. After a sexy dance and even sexier kiss, he knows she is. But when their scintillating night leads to more, the possibility of another long distance relationship sends Jasmine running for the door.

Until the unthinkable happens. Jasmine’s company assigns her to Bode-Wynn, the military security firm where Ethan works. Forced back together, the undeniable heat between them flares to life. But sex is all it can ever be, because taking it further goes against everything Jasmine wants…and everything Ethan fears.
She stared at the cup. How would it taste—too strong, too weak, too sweet?

Giving herself a mental shake, she focused on finding her underwear. What she and Ethan shared last night was the perfect encounter. Why ruin it by letting him come back to find her with bedhead and clumpy mascara eyes, with her bare butt in the air searching for her clothes?

She found her underwear and worked to untangle the lace that had suddenly turned into a set of intricate puzzles in her hands. She managed to put them on without ripping them to shreds, but panic seized her when she couldn’t find her dress. The memory of Ethan taking it off sped up her heart rate and her exit from the bedroom. Pausing on her way down the staircase, she stopped to listen for Mitch in the house. No soft snores, no squeaky beds, no movement from the kitchen, just the waves crashing in the ocean. As she hurried down to the living room, a part of her felt
like Cinderella’s vampy twin running from the prince’s bed at sunrise. She stumbled over her high-heeled sandals next to the gray couch and saw her dress lain out neatly over the cushioned arm near her purse.

Coffee, an offer of breakfast, and he’d taken care of her clothes? He wasn’t making this easy.

Author Bio:
Nina Crespo lives in Florida where she indulges in her favorite passions—the beach, kickboxing, a good glass of wine with her own real-life hero, and dancing. Her lifelong addiction to romance began in her teens while on a "borrowing spree" in her older sister's bedroom, where she discovered her first romance novel. Curiosity about people and places, including what's beyond the stars, fuels her writer's imagination. This wellspring of inspiration allows Nina to create sensual contemporary stories and steamy paranormal tales, which she hopes will feed your own addiction for love, romance, and happily ever after.
