MAKING WAVES – Beach Vacation MUST HAVES

Giveaway Alert!

In MAKING WAVES, burned-out journalist Justine Simms drops everything and heads to Hawaii to visit some friends, and to forget about her sucky job and even suckier love life for an extra-long weekend. These are the Must Haves for Juss’s Hawaiian getaway:

Waterproof notebook – Yes, they actually make these! Of course Justine didn’t plan on having to work on her beachy vacay, but when she lands an interview with sexy pro-surfer, Chase Ryder, she’s relieved she was prepared.

Beachy attire -Since her trip was spur-of-the-moment, Justine took approximately five minutes to pack, throwing in nothing but sundresses, frilly tops and flip flops. Note to self: It does actually rain in Hawaii.

Bathing suit –In her haste, Justine forgot to pack a suit. This ends up not being too tragic, because she and sexy Will (aka: “Chase Ryder”) stop down for a little bikini shopping. Which leads to all kinds of fun…

“Any luck?” Will said, moving to her dressing room.

“I’m not sure,” Justine replied as her door swung open. “What do you think?”

Thinking wasn’t something Will was able to do right then, because when Justine stepped out of her dressing room wearing a teeny-tiny red bikini, every drop of blood rushed from his brain and headed south.

“Um, nice,” he managed to garble. “Very umm…”

“It’s not too much?” She pivoted around to display her back half.

Hooooly hell.

Will’s pulse went into maximum overdrive, his helpless gaze glued on the tiny sliver of red fabric that could hardly be considered a bathing suit bottom.

All-in-one beach towel and tote – For someone as organized as Justine, she doesn’t mess around. Her handy tote works as both a bag and a towel. And since she sewed extra pockets on the outside, she can stow her reporter notebook, just in case she stumbles upon a story. http://www.marthastewart.com/272234/beach-towel-tote-bag?backto=true

Sunscreen – Yes, fair-complexioned Justine isn’t only organized, but responsible. Plus, who needs pesky crow’s feet before thirty?

iPod – Although Juss doesn’t have the unabashed love of pop music like Will, she still loves her tunes, and what’s a better way to relax than playing a little beachy Sugar Ray?

Flipflops - After running around LA in business attire and high heels, Justine is all about sloppy beach comfort.

Trashy novels – Obviously, right? Hard-hitting journalist or not, the beach and romance novels go hand-in-hand.

What is your favorite beach read? And if you were to run away from your life for a weekend, what would you bring to the beach?

  1. I don't have a favorite beach read, but I do want one that is light and fun. And since I sunburn so quickly, I'd also have to lug a large beach umbrella. :)
