A new genre, a new world

With: Lia Davis

Giveaway Alert!

I started out my writing career in paranormal romance. I’m known best for my shifter series, Ashwood Falls. I love my shifter worlds and will always continue to write paranormal because it is my first love. So why the crossover to contemporary?

My muse loves a challenge. Besides it’s fun to do something different and a little more sensual.

Pleasures of the Heart is different from what I normally write, not because it is contemporary, but because each book will be a standalone novella (15,000 – 30,000 words). There is no continuing backstory. Each story will have its own conflicts and villains. They will, however, have character cameo appearances from past and future stories. The first five books surround a business law office. The three partners will get their stories as well as some clients of the firm and some family members of the partners.

Business Pleasures is the first book and releases tomorrow in eBook! I’m so excited to be able to share this world with my readers. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.

Hugs, Lia

Aimee Monroe never considered dating her boss. She needs a new beginning, not a big mistake. However, when the handsome, business lawyer, Kenton McDonnell, ask her to a dinner date with a new client and his wife, she finds it hard to say no. After one incredible night with Kenton, her attempt for a fresh start is ripped away when she returns home to find her abusive ex-husband waiting for her.

Kenton has wanted Aimee since the day she walked into the interview. Now he has the chance to make her his and nothing or no one is going to stand in his way. Especially not the ex-husband newly released from prison who has revenge in his sights.

“It makes me uncomfortable.”

Grace tsked and fisted her hands over the black satin dress in her lap. “Because that bastard conditioned you to believe you were nothing to everyone but him.”

Aimee dropped her shoulders. Her sister was right. Every day of their marriage Roger repeatedly reminded her that no one could love her like he did. When she tried to look sexy for him, he’d accuse her of sleeping around. Then proceed to tear down what little self-esteem she managed to cobble together.

Grace wrapped an arm around her and squeezed. “You’re better than you give yourself credit for. It’s okay to feel good, build your confidence, and be the beautiful person you are inside and out. You’re free to be yourself and be desired.”

A lump formed in Aimee’s throat. It’d been a little more than five years since Roger’s incarceration. Besides, he would be in prison for a long time for trying to kill her. He couldn’t touch her, couldn’t make her feel inadequate anymore.

Straightening her spine and gathering courage, Aimee stood and took the black silky dress from her sister and proceeded to put it on. The soft fabric slid over her skin like a lover’s caress. When Grace rushed over and zipped up the dress, it felt like it was made for her.

Grace let out a sigh, then a fake sniff. “My baby sister looks so pretty.”

Aimee rolled her eyes and stepped in front of the full length mirror, then gasped. Not pretty, the reflection in the glass could only be described as gorgeous. The dress appeared tailored to her figure, showing off her modest curves and her more-than-a-handful breasts. “I can’t wear this to dinner.”

“Why not?”

The woman in the mirror wasn’t her. She appeared confident and whole—alive and ready to take on the world. Something Aimee wasn’t sure she was ready for. She turned to face her sister. “It’s a business meeting.”

Grace pursed her lips, placed her hands on Aimee’s shoulders, and whirled her around to face the mirror. Grace hugged Aimee from behind and rested her chin on her shoulder. “This isn’t just a business meeting. You know as well as I do, the Camptons are personal friends of Kenton and the whole firm. Plus, I’ve seen the way your boss looks at you.”

A spark of hope mixed with a tinge of fear settled in her belly, intensifying the already ill feeling this business-date had caused. “He doesn’t look at me.”

  1. Thank you so much for having as your guest!

  2. This comment has been removed by the author.

  3. Serves me right for not paying attention!! So many heroes!! But honestly...I have so much belief in their stories I couldn't get between any of them and their romantic heroines. It would be sooo wrong. Can't even think about going there. Have all Ashwood Falls, Divinities, and War's Passion. Looking forward to release of Ashes of War and intrigued by this new contemporary series. Shall be getting this one asap. Brightest blessings

  4. I would pick Mr. Darcy and I would want to see his house.

  5. Easy. That would be Roarke from the In Death series. Yes, it would be a night of seduction. Then, in the morning, I'd be running from Eve Dallas.

  6. I would love to spend it with Nick from Lisa Kleypas' "Worth Any Price." He's a Bow Street Runner and I would love to hang out with him as he's investigating a case.

  7. I would choose Blaine Andrews from A Mating Dance-Ashwood Falls book 2 by Lia Davis because he has a partner, Graham Griffin, and oh, the things we could do...! I promise to return them to Cam by the next week, ummm...I meant next day. :D

  8. Well there are lots out there to pick from, but I will choose one of yours today ;) I would like to go for a dragon ride to a private Caribbean with Ty and then get stranded there for a few days thinking of creative ways to entertain ourselves ;)

  9. not sure; maybe someone who owns a private island

  10. It would be a Highland laird. Living in a castle with a kilted warrior who speaks with a Scottish Burr. Yum!

    Marcy Shuler

  11. I think I would say Roarke as he is 6'2 and I like tall men and he is 34 so not too young and Irish how can you resist all that. And it would be fun to be on and adventure like a treasure hunt with action danger and of course romance . He may be from the future but if it is my decision I can take him anywhere lol

  12. I would choose Gabriel McBain from Julie Garwood's Saving Grace because I want to hang out at his highland castle! :)

  13. My choice would be Colin Bridgerton. We`d spend the evening dancing away at a ball trying to stay out of Lady Whistledown`s column!
