Character Interview with ONE GOOD COWBOY hero Stone McNair

With: Catherine Mann

Giveaway Alert!

- What is your favorite memory about your grandmother?

My grandmother – Mariah McNair – saved my life. Literally. She took me in when my junkie mom dumped me on her doorstep. So Gran and I had a lot of time to make memories. My favorite though? She taught me to ride horses. Family rides with Gran and my cousins were the highlight of my growing up years. I owe Gran, well, everything. I would do anything for her. Anything.

- She is making you team up with your ex-fiancée. How do you feel about that?

How do I feel being forced into 24/7, joined at the hip time with Johanna? Resentful. Sexually frustrated. And undeniably drawn to the notion of one last chance to win Johanna back into my bed … and into my life.

- You've had a difficult past. Do you feel like talking about it?

Ya know, we all have skeletons in our closet and tough things we’ve faced. It’s not worth dwelling on. What matters is proving to the world that crap didn’t bring me down. I’m lucky as hell to have had my grandmother to care for me. The fact that my mother was a drug addict when she gave birth to me? That’s in the past. Right?

- What is a chi-weenie?

A Chihuahua mixed with a dachshund. Crazy sounding, isn’t it? I had to ask Johanna the same question first time she used the phrase. I’m not even going to say what I thought when Johanna asked me if I wanted to take the chi-weenie for a walk!

Staff Sergeant Mike Kowalski wants only one thing after he gets home from Iraq: to sleep in a king-sized bed with clean sheets. But first, he has to hand off his fallen commander’s dog, Trooper, to his family without handing off his heart to Sierra…

Sierra McDaniel needs a break. Her family life is crazy, and when she’s not mucking out kennels, she’s slogging through grad school. Sierra certainly doesn’t want another dog, especially one that reminds her of her father. And she definitely doesn’t want to see Mike with that charming smile of his…
