Giveaway Alert!
Thanks to Maureen for hosting me today! I’m excited to visit because I get to talk about books and romance – two of my favorite things.
I’m not sure about you, but it’s been hard to miss the swath of pink and red that’s coated everything everywhere for the last six weeks. No sooner did the holiday decorations come down but the Valentine’s decorations went up (I think my local Wal-Greens had their V-day decorations up on December 26th….)

But my more practical side knows that the holiday isn’t necessarily a joy for everyone. Relationship stresses, in particular, can mar the dewy-eyed bliss the love-wielding Valentine’s industry seems intent on pushing at us with demonic abandon.
That’s one of the things I’ve explored in THE BILLIONAIRE’S DEMANDS. Although not set in February, the book does explore some of the realities of living and working as a single woman in today’s society. (Let me amend that, living, working and owning GREAT shoes in today’s society!)
Camryn McBride is in a difficult situation. Her two sisters have found love and she’s now on the outside looking in. She doesn’t begrudge them – in the least – but she is aware of what she doesn’t have. Add on some baggage from an old love gone wrong and you’ve got a woman who’s struggling to understand the next stage of her life.
Of course, that gives our hero, Booth Harrison, a perfect opportunity to breeze right on in and start pounding on all those walls she’s put up.
“A fling will be messy with our family connections.” Hearty laughter echoed outside the kitchen and Camryn glanced toward the door as if the noise punctuated her point. “And clearly we’ve got a lot of connection.”
“I thought I was talking about a date.”
She took another step back and he could practically see her crawl inside herself. The bright, vivid smile and warm gaze faded as she took a few steps away from him. “A date or a whole lot more can’t happen. Not with the family we now share thanks to your brother and my sister.”
Her absolute unwillingness to consider it—especially since he’d seen the very real interest in her gaze—had him rethinking his tactics. “So you simply walk away?”
“It’s clean. Easy. And we avoid a mess that would include awkward family moments.” She waited a beat before smiling broadly. “Sort of like this one.”
Whether it was the taunt or something more, Booth didn’t know, but he couldn’t resist pushing a bit harder on all the neat, pristine order that surrounded her like a shield. “Sometimes it’s fun to get messy.”
That’s one of the things I love about exploring romantic relationships. You never know when love is going to breeze right in and toss all that neat, pristine order right out the window. And the best part – it can happen anywhere. At a dinner party, on a dating site or even standing in the midst of all those hearts inside Wal-Green’s, it’s never too far out of reach.
I wish you love, fabulous shoes and an endlessly towering TBR pile!
Hugs & Happy Reading!
