The Holidays Are Coming!
Whether we’re ready for it or not, the holiday season is fast approaching. In three weeks those of us in the States will be sitting down to turkey and all of the trimmings in celebration of Thanksgiving.
In seven weeks--yes, I said seven--we’ll be gathering again, this time not only around the dinner table for another huge meal, but around the Christmas tree to share gifts.
What happened? The last I knew it was summer and the fireflies were buzzing over the cornfields, the air conditioner was working overtime, and the sun wasn’t sinking below the horizon until almost ten o’clock. As of this past weekend, we turned our clocks back and the daylight hours are now at a premium.
In spite of the ever increasing shorter days, I do love the fall and winter holidays. I love the festive colors, decorations, and the holiday movies. Some I have seen so many times I can recite bits and pieces of dialogue by heart. Those favorites never get old. They are a tradition for me and offer a yearly visit with old friends.
I love all of the holiday romances, too. It’s fun to see the holiday themed covers. But what’s even more fun is to have such a large selection of great stories to choose from. It’s like…well, Christmas!
Since I enjoy reading holiday romances, I decided to set my Studs 4 Hire novella, ELF TROUBLE, during Christmas. The tough part about writing a holiday romance is you’re usually writing it months of the holiday.
Now, I’m a believer in holding off partaking in anything Christmas—decorating, listening to Christmas music, and watching Christmas movies—until after Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving deserves its day in the limelight, too.
However, while writing ELF TROUBLE I had to break my rule and give into the needs of my fussing muse. I needed inspiration. Christmas inspiration. So, I pulled out the Christmas music and watched a holiday movie or two. No, I didn’t go so far as to hang lights in my office, or put up a tree. Although, I did get out the fresh balsam room freshener and burn pine scented candles.
Hey, you do what you gotta do, right? But to keep my hubby from thinking I’d lost it, before he’d walk in the door for lunch, I’d hurry and switch off the Christmas music.
Here’s a little teaser from ELF TROUBLE to help you get into the Holiday mood!
If You’re Looking 4 Trouble, You’ve Found It!
For Gil Boyd Christmas is one holiday he’d like to forget. Unfortunately, there is no escaping the holiday its commercialized madness. He’s ready to hide out on some remote island, but his bosses at Studs 4 Hire have other ideas. Instead of helping him avoid the yearly chaos, they throw him into the middle of it by assigning him to build a Santa house for a local animal shelter’s annual Santa Paws fundraiser. Gil has no choice but to silence his inner Grinch and get the job done.
But Gil doesn’t count on quirky shelter volunteer, Holly Everwood, her unwavering holiday spirit and her band of cantankerous mutts, to tempt his resolve to remain unattached. Can Holly and the dogs show him the real magic of Christmas exists if only he’ll open his heart?
ELF TROUBLE is the third book in my Studs 4 Hire series, but is the first one of novella length.
If you’ve read the first two novels in the series, WOMAN on TOP, and WOMAN in CHARGE, ELF TROUBLE will give you a chance to catch up a little bit with Sydnie, Casey, and Terri. But not too much. ELF TROUBLE is the first of several TROUBLE novellas to give you a chance to get to know the Studs who work for the gals.
ELF TROUBLE will be available soon, so keep an eye out at your favorite online booksellers.
In the meantime, checkout the Rafflecopter giveaway and share a comment about what is your favorite Christmas romance novel, or Christmas movie. The winner will receive an adorable holiday elf along with other Christmas goodies!
